DIY Trend: Marbling

Hello Everyone,
Its been a long time since I've written a post for my DIY Trend series! Since its the middle of the week, I thought it would be fun to have a little chat about a current trend happening in the craft world. For those of you who may be new to the blog, a DIY Trend post is where I talk about a current trend which is being used in tons of DIYs. You can check out previous posts in this series by clicking here and here.

Today's DIY Trend is going to be about Marbling.

Now if you haven't been living under a rock, then you will know that lately there has been more then the usual number of marbling DIYs. It seems like everybody is loving the marbleize look and is incorporating the design into almost everything.

The marbling design can be achieved in several ways. There are tons of different videos and tutorials out there which show how you to get the marbleize look by using everything from acrylic paint, clay, watercolors to even food coloring.

However, it seems now the current trend (or trend within the trend) is to use nail polish as the main medium when creating your marble design. Personally, I have always had a love hate relationship with using nail polish in DIYs but the end result in almost all of the projects (which use nail polish) looks really cool.

I haven't done any marbling in a DIY project for years. The last time I did a marbling project was probably when I was in my paper making / scrapbooking phase. I remember buying a disposable cake tray then filling it up with water, then adding a little bit of liquid soap, then some paint or maybe nail polish and finally pressing my paper into the concoction.

Marbling as sure come a long way since then ;)

How to: Marble Coasters
My favorite types of marbling projects are the ones which involve clay. I think the set of coasters above are so pretty and with all the different colors of clay out there, the marbling possibilities are pretty endless.

All in all, I'm a fan of the marbling trend. I think its a great way to add a pop of color to your space, especially if your someone who is afraid of color. Personally, I would like to see someone try to make some marbleize pillows or somehow decorate a piece of furniture with a ''fake'' marbling technique. Hey, maybe I can do that....

What are your thoughts? Do like this trend or are you not a fan?
