Hello Everyone,
Hope you all had a fantastic weekend!
Today is my first day back to school. Which in a nutshell means that I'll be getting up early and dedicating the next four months of my life to writing boring papers. Don't you love college.
So in order to keep my sanity, I though today it would be fun if I wrote a Mini Collection Monday post. I actually just realized that I haven't done one of these post since April!
What I'm sharing with you today is a poodle planter that I found while antiquing with my best friend last week. We were walking around the store looking at all the booths, when this pretty little white poodle caught my eye. A long time ago I used to collect poodle ''stuff'' but throughout the years I began collecting other things and kinda drifted away from poodle items.
Seeing this poodle planter reminded me of my poodle letter holder that I had at home. So my mind began thinking of all the ways I could use this poodle planter. Then it hit me, I thought '' this poodle would look great on my desk, it could hold all my note cards and post-it notes''! I was sold and ended up buying it for 6 dollars.
When I got home I did some research to see where my poodle came from. I didn't find an exact match but through my research I discovered this pink and grey poodle (which look very similar to the one I bought).
In the description of the pink and grey poodles, a company called Royal Copley is mentioned. That company supposedly made the poodles.
After doing some more research on Royal Copley, I found this website that talked about 11 distinguishing clues that could help you identify a Royal Copley piece. One of those clues was
''The presence of parallel runners or ridges on the bottom of many of the items are very important clues that a piece might be Royal Copley.''
My piece had these parallel runners on the bottom which match the pink and grey poodles I found. So overall I feel pretty confident thats its a Royal Copley.
Right now this poodle is siting on my desk holding note cards and post-it notes. I love the idea of using something like a poodle planter for another purpose like holding office supplies. I'm also happy that I bought it because I think its important to be surrounded by things that make you happy!
xo
