Eye Print Box DIY

Hello Everyone,
A few days ago I wrote a new DIY Trend post and mention that I was going to be making my own eye print inspired project. Well today I'm going to be showing you guys how you can transform a plain wooden box by adding a simple eye print!

Supplies:
Wooden Box
Black Paint
White Paint
Paintbrush
Straw
Toothpicks
Sewing Pin
Blue Paint (not pictured / optional)

Step 1: Paint your box (inside and out) white, then set it aside to dry.

Step 2: Take your straw and cut it down to a smaller size (about 3 to 4 inches). Then take your straw and ''flatten it'' so its in the shape of an eye. Once that is done, dip your straw into the back paint and begin stamping your box. When your done, set your box to the side to dry.

You may want to test out your straw stamp on a piece of paper before actually stamping your box. I found that the best way to use the straw stamp was to rock it back and forth while you were stamping the eye image.

Step 3: Now take your sewing pin and dip the ''head pin part'' (which in this case is the green cap on the sewing pin) into your black paint. Then begin stamping in the middle of each eye, by doing this we are creating the eye's pupil. Once your done set your box to the side to dry.

Again you may want to test this out before stamping on your actual box.

Step 4: Decide on what kind of eyelashes you want to to add to your eye. Once you've decided begin painting them on by dipping your toothpick into your black paint. If you didn't want to use a toothpick and black paint, you could also just use a black pen.

For my eye I started out with a mod looking eyelash but then went back with a black pen and adding more finer lashes. To get a better idea of the different ''shapes of eyelashes'' you may want to look at this print and this print from Pinterest.

Step 5: Once your box is dry, take another toothpick and dip it into your blue paint. Then begin making small blue dots all around your eye print. Now this step is optional but I think it adds a nice touch to your box.

When your box is completely dry, your ready to begin using it!

I just love how this little box turned out! It also ended up being the perfect box to hold all the screwdrivers and extra screws that we use for our glasses (since I come from a family who wears glasses all the time).

What do you think? Do you like this eye print box?
