If you have ever thought about making your own checkers game (I know you have), then you have come to the right place! Today I will be
showing you how to create a dog/cat inspired checkers game that is
portable.
Now today's project is part of my collaboration with Xyron since I'm a member of their design team! This means that you will be seeing a Xyron machine in action! For this particular project, I will be showcasing the Xyron® 1.5″ Sticker Maker. I've talked about the Xyron® 1.5″ Sticker Maker before, so if you want to learn more about it, then click here.
Also, in this project, I will be using items from Maya Road!
If you have never heard of Maya Road, they are a company that offers
high quality but affordable scrapbooking products! However, with that
being said, Maya Road offers a variety of craft products which can be
used in different types of crafting. For example, they offer die cuts,
charms, ribbon, tassels, chipboard pieces, and so much more! In this project, I will be using some mini wood slices and a
cute ATC wooden box.
As I mentioned before, this checkers game is going to be dog/cat inspired but you could use any type of stamps to create your own style of checkers!

For my checkers, I decided to use the tennis ball for dogs and the ball of yarn for cats.

Once your mini wood slices and box are completely dry, you are now ready to play checkers!
This new set of checkers turned out much better than I originally
thought! The mini wood slices from Maya Road make the perfect set of checkers.
Now, you may be wondering about the actual checkerboard (lol)!
The reason why I didn't show you how to make a checkerboard
is because I wanted you to have some options. For example, you could A) buy a
piece of fabric that had a checkerboard pattern on it, B) draw out your own checkerboard
on a piece of paper and then laminate it, or C) paint your own checkerboard on a piece of canvas fabric. Personally, I went the fabric route
because it could be folded up and then placed in the wooden box. However, you
can make whatever floats your crafty boat!
Also, before I go, Xyron is giving away one sparkly blue Xyron® 1.5″ Sticker Maker EVERY DAY on the Xyron Facebook page this week! To enter to win one, all you have to do is leave a comment on their Facebook page.
