DIY: Last Minute Card Made From Scraps Of Gift Wrapping Paper

Hello Everyone!

The Xyron Hashtag Challenge is in full swing on Instagram!

However, if you are late to the Xyron hashtag party, that is ok! To get you caught up on all things Instagram, Xyron is having its first ever Hashtag Challenge. If you are unfamiliar with a Hashtag Challenge, its basically where a ‘’challenge’’ is announced each week, and you guys use the #HOLLYJOLLYXYRON to share your projects that go with that challenge Then, once the challenge week is up, the Xyron Design Team will pick a winner of the challenge and that person will be featured on all of our Instagram pages AND will win a Xyron Creative Station!

So, to get you inspired to make your own projects for the challenges, the Xyron Design Team members are sharing their own project for each challenge.

This week’s hashtag challenge is all about cards!

When making my own card for this challenge, I wanted to create something that only used a few supplies and that could be put together at the last minute. The project I came up with was a card that was created using scraps of gift wrapping paper.

So, if you want to learn how to make your own Gift Wrapping Paper Card, keep reading below!

Supplies
Wrapping Paper
Blank Cards
Ribbon or Pom-Pom Trim
Scissors
Hot Glue Gun + Glue Sticks (not pictured)

Step 1: Grab your card base and slide it through your Xyron Creative Station Lite.

Crafty Side Note: I decided to run my card base through my Xyron machine instead of my wrapping paper because I didn’t want the wrapping paper to rip as I was removing it from the Xyron paper. You may want to keep this idea in mind if you are using vintage wrapping paper for this project. Simply because if you rip your vintage wrapping paper, you may not have another piece to use.

Step 2: Once you have run the card through the Xyron Creative Station Lite, rub the top of the sticker paper. Then peel the card off the sticker paper and apply it to your wrapping paper.

Then cut off the extra wrapping paper around the card’s edges.

Step 3: Now, grab your ribbon, pom-pom trim or any other embellishments and begin decorating your card! For my card, I first glued down some pom-pom trim, using my hot glue gun. Then I ran some thin pink ribbon through my Xyron Creative Station Lite and added that on top of the pom-pom trim.

However, depending on how much time you have, you can decorate your card as much or as little as you like.

Once you are happy with how your card looks, you are ready to fill it out and give it to your family or friends!

Needless, to say, this card was super fun to make and so easy to put together! I may have gone a little overboard with the pom-pom trim, but you can get as creative as you like when making these cards.

Also, this project is a great way to use those left-over scraps of up-to-date or vintage wrapping paper that you may have been saving.

As always, to follow along with all the Xyron fun, don't forget to like them on Facebook and to follow their Pinterest page for more project inspiration.
