Book Review: Dollar Store Decor: 101 Projects.....

Hello Everyone,
Today I have a fun book review for you guys!  The book I'm reviewing today is, Dollar Store Decor: 101 Projects for Lush Living That Won't Break the Bank by Mark Montano.

Dollar Store Decor is a craft book, that shows you how to turn dollar store items into fun home decor. This was actually my first Mark Montano book, which eventuality lead me to The Big Ass Book Of Crafts and all his other amazing books.

What I really liked about this book was that the projects were simple to make and just so darn cute. As a college kid who likes to decorate, these projects will not break the bank and can really be personalized to fit anybody style.

Now I couldn't find any pictures of the inside of the book online, so I took pictures of my copy ( which is what you will see below).

Color Pencil Frame (picture taken by me)

There are 101 craft projects in the book that range from picture frames to breakfast trays. That was another reasons why I liked the book because there was a little of everything. Some of the projects in the book are Color Pencil Frame, Paint Chip Art, Rose Bouquet Lamp, Wastepaper Basket Ice Bucket, String Art Tabletop and so much more.

The directions for each craft project are easy to understand but the only thing that might bug people is that there are not step by step pictures. It didn't bother me because like I said the directions are easy to understand and the main picture ( like above) is really the only picture you need to understand the project.

Snug As A Bug In A Rug Bag (picture taken by me)

Now some of you might wonder, sense were buying cheap items will our project look cheap. Well with one look at the picture above, I think your question is answer. The Snug As A Bug In A Rug Bag blew me away, to me this bag does not look like you bought it at the dollar store.

Thats the main thing that Mark Montano accomplished in this book, he turned cheap items into beautiful one of kind items. He uses items like spoons, rugs, domnios, lace, straws, towels and other stuff that you would never think of using, to make really neat projects.

Kitchen Utensil Clock (picture taken by me)

One of my favorite projects in the book, is the one pictured above. Its a Kitchen Utensil Clock. I would  totally make this and would hang it in my kitchen in a heartbeat.

So in closing, I would totally recommend this book! I also recommend that you check out Mark's blog and his youtube channel (which is my favorite).

To close this blog post I'm going to leave you guys with a quote from Mark's book:

"I hope this book helps you realize that more expensive doesn't always mean better and that just because something cost 99 cents doesn't mean it's cheap-just well priced! " Dollar Store Decor: 101 Projects for Lush Living That Won't Break the Bank by Mark Montano page 9)

Enjoy,

p.s As always, have any of you read this book or do you have a craft book that you could recommend?
