Hello Everyone!

October is upon us, and we can now truly say that it’s pumpkin season! To kick off this first week of October, I am sharing with you a quick no-carve - pumpkin decorating project. The pumpkin decorating project that I am showing you guys is a DIY Frosted Sprinkled Pumpkin!

Now, you may be thinking that you have seen sprinkled pumpkin DIYs before. To be honest, you are absolutely right, you have seen sprinkled pumpkin DIYs before. However, the differences between my sprinkled pumpkin and other DIY sprinkled pumpkins is that the finished project looks like REAL frosted sprinkles.

The key to getting this ''real frosted sprinkled look'', is modeling paste!

If you are not familiar with modeling paste, it is basically an acrylic medium that is used in mix medium projects to create texture. When DécoArt sent me there DecoArt Media® Modeling Paste, I got so excited because I had not used modeling paste in such a long time. Needless to say, my first thought after opening the modeling paste was that it looked like frosting and then somehow, I thought that sprinkles should be added to the modeling paste (lol). 

So, if you want to learn how to make your Frosted Sprinkled Pumpkin (in only 2 steps), then keep reading below!

Supplies

Step 1: Take your palette knife and dip it into your DecoArt Media® Modeling Paste. Then start spreading the modeling paste, like you would if you were icing a cupcake, onto the top of your fake pumpkin. Keep repeating this step until you are happy with how your modeling paste/''frosting'' looks. 

Once you are done, set the pumpkin aside to dry. 

Crafty Side Note: I ended up applying two layers of the modeling paste to my pumpkin, to get a thick frosted look. 

Step 2: Now take your foam brush and dip it into your DecoArt Americana Decou-Page. Then apply a layer of the glue on top of the modeling paste and sprinkle on your colored sprinkles. 

When you are happy with how your pumpkin looks, set the whole thing aside to dry. 

Once your pumpkin is completely dry, you are ready to display it!

I absolutely love how this Frosted Sprinkled Pumpkin turned out! I think this would look so cute in a kitchen or in a cluster of 3 on a dining room table.

One thing that I wanted to mention about this project, is that you cannot skip step 2. What I mean, is that you cannot add the sprinkles into the modeling paste while the modeling paste is drying. I actually tried this method and found that the sprinkles ''disintegrated'' in the modeling paste. Specifically, the color from the sprinkles was ''melting out'' and instead of nice whole sprinkles, the final result (of the sprinkles) looked like small little-melted blobs of color.

So, to get that nice frosted sprinkled look, you need to do both steps 1 and 2.
